The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help lead the design, development, and evolution of our next-generation robotic systems. In this senior role, you will own the development of highly integrated mechatronic subsystems, drive product decisions in collaboration with R&D and operations, and bring your industrial experience and systems mindset to improve the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our robotics platform.
You will act as a technical leader within cross-functional teams, from early concept through production and lifecycle support. Your contributions will shape the mechanical architecture of our robots and influence how we bring innovation to life at scale.

Market & Our Technology
ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.
Your Contributions
- Lead the design and validation of complex mechatronic assemblies for robotic systems
- Own mechanical subsystems from concept to release, including product care responsibilities
- Conduct system-level tradeoff analyses balancing performance, reliability, and cost
- Collaborate with software, electrical, and operations teams to ensure integration and manufacturability
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design best practices
- Create and maintain detailed product documentation compliant with ISO standards
Your Profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics; advanced degree a plus
- 7+ years experience in product development, ideally in robotics, automation, or hardware startups
- Proven track record designing production-ready mechanical systems in fast-paced environments
- Strong background in FEA, CAD (SolidWorks), and PDM/PLM systems
- Experience leading design reviews, resolving cross-disciplinary issues, and managing tradeoffs
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, design for cost, and lifecycle support
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable influencing across technical and non-technical teams
- Motivated by impact, innovation, and high-quality engineering in complex systems
Bonus Points
- Experienced in dimensioning of standard parts like motors, gearboxes and bearings
- Experience in explosion proof designs
- Know-how regarding the design and manufacturing of injection moulded parts
- Experience with electric drives and control theory
- Experience in programming software (i.e. Python)
