We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to join our team of product developers and robot enthusiasts. We develop competitive product offerings for our customers that rely on deeply integrated and complex mechatronic systems. The mechanical engineering team and its team lead closely collaborate with specialists from the R&D and software development group in order to evaluate, implement, test and support the product development process and the portfolio outcome. Furthermore, we are in continuous exchange with our operations group to secure the product target costs and quality standards as ONE TEAM. This renders our robots more nimble, robust and user friendly, and ensures new ways to optimize the performance and skills of our system. We are passionate about challenging and excellent hardware design and system performance at competitive costs.

Market & Our Technology
ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.
Your Contributions
- Lead and grow the Mechanical Engineering team, mentoring engineers and driving high performance
- Oversee the design of complex, explosion-proof mechatronic systems for our robotic products
- Define team development plans, allocate resources, and support individual career progression
- Review and release technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and specifications, in compliance with GD&T standards
- Ensure robust, reliable, and cost-effective designs through structured development and stage-gate processes
- Develop and implement engineering processes and tools to improve efficiency, quality, and collaboration across the team
- Drive product care, field inspections, and lifecycle improvements
- Maintain clear, high-quality documentation including assembly, service, and user manuals
Your Profile
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- 5+ years industrial experience, with proven team leadership in hardware/mechatronic systems
- Hands-on experience in product development, validation, and testing
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD and DM/PDM workflows is a plus
- Strong knowledge of tolerancing (DIN/ISO) and GD&T standards, design-to-cost, and productivity optimization
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and communication skills
- Team-oriented, proactive, and driven to foster innovation and technical excellence
Bonus Points
- Explosion-proof design experience (ATEX, IECEx)
- Experience in dimensioning motors, gearboxes, bearings, or injection-molded parts from their previous work as mechanical engineer ahead of potential leadership roles
- Experience with electric drives, controls, or Python
