Clue is more than just a place to work. Our work empowers women and people with cycles to make more informed decisions about their health. We break down barriers, myths, and taboos. Our workplace is agile, diverse, and full of opportunities for growth.

NOTE FROM THE TEAM

We are looking for a pragmatic, mission-driven Senior Legal Counsel to own data protection, privacy compliance, and AI governance at Clue. As we expand our product and deepen our use of AI, this role sits at the intersection of legal, product, and policy, and will be critical to how we build responsibly and at scale.

This is not a purely advisory role. You will be a true partner to the business, shaping how we approach data and AI from the ground up, engaging directly with regulators, and ensuring that Clue's practices are both compliant and strategically sound. If you are energised by hard problems, fast-moving environments, and work that genuinely matters, this role is for you.

WHO YOU ARE

  • A principled but pragmatic approach to compliance; you find workable paths, not just blockers
  • Genuine curiosity about how AI and data-driven products are built and deployed
  • The ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for product and engineering teams
  • Strong instincts for risk, and the confidence to push back where necessary
  • Experience working in or alongside fast-paced tech or health tech environments

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Data Protection & Privacy

  • Serve as a legal expert on GDPR, and other applicable global privacy frameworks
  • Lead privacy-by-design reviews for new product features, data flows, and partnerships
  • Manage relationships with data protection authorities and lead regulatory engagement and responses
  • Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements

AI Governance

  • Advise teams on responsible AI development, algorithmic transparency, and bias risk
  • Develop internal AI policies, risk assessment processes, and documentation standards
  • Monitor global AI regulatory developments and ensure Clue stays ahead of compliance obligations

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Commercial teams to embed privacy and AI compliance into day-to-day decision-making
  • Provide legal input on data-related commercial agreements alongside the Commercial Legal Counsel
  • Support the development of internal training and awareness programmes on data protection and AI

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Fully qualified lawyer with 5+ years of post-qualification experience, with a focus on data protection, privacy, and/or technology law
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of GDPR and practical experience advising on complex data processing activities
  • Proven ability to engage with regulators and manage DPA investigations or inquiries
  • Strong drafting skills across data agreements, privacy notices, policies, and internal guidance
  • Experience in-house, ideally within a tech, health tech, or consumer product company
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); German is a plus
