A NOTE FROM THE TEAM

We at Clue are looking for a commercially driven, data-obsessed Director of User Acquisition to scale paid growth exponentially, increasing the volume of new users while improving efficiency, incrementality, and long-term value.

This role owns the end-to-end acquisition strategy, including channel and country diversification, creative scaling, measurement, experimentation, and team development. You will be responsible for transforming performance marketing into a durable, scalable growth engine, working closely with cross-functional partners to enable success across the organization.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience scaling user acquisition at a similar stage of growth, who is self-motivated and a strategic thinker. The ideal candidate will be able to rapidly scale existing channels while rigorously testing new hypotheses across creatives, markets, and emerging networks.

This role reports into the CMO and partners closely with senior stakeholders across the business to build a truly integrated performance marketing function, with a focus on both scale and efficiency.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

1. Growth Strategy & Scaling

  • Develop and execute a 6-12 months acquisition roadmap to scale spend incrementally across 2026 and beyond - focusing on core existing channels, unlocking Meta, and identifying new networks and platforms of opportunity to build a best-in-class UA channel, market, and audience composition landscape
  • Identify and unlock new scalable channels (paid social, search ASA, affiliates, emerging platforms)
  • Develop a clear strategy for international and/or audience expansion strategies

2. Performance & Economics

  • Own acquisition efficiency and growth economics across all paid channels, balancing scale, CAC efficiency, payback period, and long-term LTV contribution.
  • Partner with the CFO & CMO to forecast, model, and manage budget allocation in advance, and plan for increased spend quarter to quarter

3. Measurement & Experimentation

  • Establish robust attribution and incrementality frameworks
  • Lead structured testing and strategic frameworks across creative, audiences, landing pages, and bidding strategies
  • Build dashboards and reporting to drive rapid optimization

4. Creative & Channel Optimization

  • Oversee creative strategy end-to-end, building and overseeing a high-performing UA creative team, focused on testing, learning, iterating, and scaling an engine room with clear insights, outputs, and scaling opportunities
  • Guide Brand and Creative teams so they can partner with you to scale high-performing concepts, test new concepts, and ideate on new opportunities across varying formats
  • Build a measurable creative UA pipeline that we can clearly measure insights and impact quarterly
  • Ensure messaging aligns with brand positioning while driving performance, building in effective quality assurance and review processes across all elements

5. Team & Leadership

  • Lead a high-performing in-house acquisition team with clear measurable goals and deliverables
  • Oversee agency and platform relationships at a senior level- holding relationships with senior counsel at key networks
  • Create a strong performance culture with clear accountability and expectations across levels, roles, and channels/output expectations
  • Build a strong relationship with the executive management team, communicating proactively every week across key learnings, insights, blockers, and opportunities
  • Develop a team that prioritizes experimentation, alongside targets

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 12+ years in performance marketing/ growth
  • A growth mindset, with clear ambition and motivation to rapidly test and learn
  • Proven experience scaling paid media budgets at a similar stage to Clue
  • Deep operational expertise across Meta, Google, TikTok, ASA, programmatic & emerging channels
  • Strong grasp of attribution, incrementality testing, and media mix modeling
  • Commercial mindset with strong financial fluency
  • Experience building and leading high-performance teams, and direct communication with C-suite executives and board-level reporting

Success Metrics (First 12 Months)

  • Scale spend with sustainable and efficient unit economics and a path to profitability
  • Improve D7 ROAS, identifying key levers to scale incrementally
  • Reduce CPR in line with increasing D7 ROAS, leveraging CVR as a key lever
  • Deep collaboration and partnership with product
  • Improve blended CAC and/or increase LTV:CAC
  • Scale existing acquisition channels (Google Search, TikTok, ASA)
  • Scale at least 2 new efficient acquisition channels (Meta as one)
  • Build a best-in-class experimentation and measurement framework and a clear road to improving efficiencies (proving out clear learnings alongside team)
