Open position: Process and Tool Specialist, NIL Technology DK
NIL Technology is on the rise, and we are seeking to strengthen our team with a dedicated Process and Tool Specialist. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, seasoned with hands-on experience with cleanroom equipment, or substantial expertise in tool service and maintenance roles. This role entails overseeing the processes executed on our tools, managing the tools, and participating in their procurement, planning, and setup.
The core responsibilities include collaborating with our cleanroom production teams across Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland to refine the processes utilized on our tools and to ensure seamless operation of the tools as well as performing preventive maintenances. Additionally, you will act as the liaison for tool suppliers, handling service coordination and support. You will establish and uphold the standards, protocols, and quality assurance measures for both new and existing tools. Familiarity with dry etching, various lithography techniques (including nanoimprint, e-beam, spin coating, and development), and wet chemical processes is beneficial. Experience with general cleanroom operations and metrology tools such as SEM, AFM, and OM is also advantageous.
Our operations span across Europe with installations in Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland, necessitating occasional travel. There may also be opportunities to visit our mass production facilities in Southeast Asia when relevant, though infrequent.
Your base of operations will be at our headquarters in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark.
Joining NILT means becoming part of a dynamic, bustling work culture that highly regards every team member’s input. We cherish a strong sense of team unity and collective achievement —
a testament to our “we win, and we lose together“ philosophy.
Essential duties and responsibilities of the position

- Schedule preventive maintenances and repairs on the tools in coordination with tool vendors.
- Setup and maintain quality control on the tools and tool processes.
- Monitor tool processes and timely communicate any observed deviations from standards to development and production teams.
- Develop and tweak dry etching processes in collaboration with engineering.
- Openly discuss results, challenges, and failures to keep all teams updated.
Must have
- MSc or PhD in applied science or engineering or profound experience with tool service and maintenance.
- Must be allowed to work in Denmark.
- Work experience from working with semiconductor process technologies in cleanroom environments, and especially experience with fabrication of components by dry etch processes.
- Experienced with scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, profilometry, and optical and confocal microscopy.
- In-depth understanding of semiconductor processing techniques beyond experience of using equipment.
- Open-minded to work independently and in teams.
- Structured and analytical work approach.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ambitions and always striving to deliver best possible results and to make an extra effort.
- Flexible and do not mind quickly to change daily operations when needed.
