Experimental Optical/electrical Engineer - DK

Location: Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark

NIL Technology is a leading manufacturer of micro-and nanostructured optical components and systems. Metaoptics offers new possibilities for optical system performance when combined with optical sensors and emitters.

We’re on the lookout for an outstanding Experimental Optoelectronic Engineer to build optical characterization systems and characterize optical performance of miniature optical assemblies and modules. The work will include R&D level work on defining test specifications; building test setups; aligning optics and metalenses; integration with camera sensors, light sources etc. For example, camera setups should be characterized with respect to PSF, MTF, relative illumination, FoV, distortion, straylight etc. and light projection systems with respect to for example illumination profile, FoI, intensity variations etc.

The profile we are looking for has an excellent optical understanding of camera and projector optics combined with electronics interest to build setups; interface to test boards; read out data from evaluation kits and test equipment; write scripts for data acquisition and data analysis; and present and share data with the design team to increase understanding of the optics. The candidate should have a deep understanding of the function of optical sensors and emitters such as camera sensors; time-of-flight sensors; LEDs; VCSEL arrays; and µLED arrays.

The work will involve building optical setups including light emitters and sensors integrated with mechanical systems for accurate alignment. Both optical, mechanical and electronic aspects must be considered and solved and occasionally a wire or two would need to be soldered.

Part of the work will include creating experimental data sets for training of AI based image processing algorithms.

We expect you to have a keen eye for innovation and the drive for defining the future of camera and optical sensing technologies. At NIL Technology, you’ll be diving into the world of wafer-level optics, playing a pivotal role in demonstrating performance of the system architectures for our cutting-edge meta optical elements (MOE), and camera and projection modules.

You will be part of a company that offers a fast-moving and busy work environment, where all opinions are valued together. We have a strong team spirit and a profound “we win, and we lose together” attitude which we value and culture. Read more at www.nilt.com/join-us.
