Computational/AI Imaging and Sensing R&D Engineer

Location: Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark

NIL Technology is a leading manufacturer of micro-and nanostructured optical components and systems. Metaoptics offers new possibilities for optical system performance when combined with optical sensors and emitters.

We are seeking a systems-oriented computational imaging engineer with expertise in applying computational or AI-based algorithms to enhance images or enrich sensor outputs, particularly within meta-optics-based imaging or sensing systems. The focus of the position is both to enhance existing systems and to advise new concepts where the optics and algorithms are co-optimized to give superior or new functionality.

The ideal candidate has experience with optical sensor and camera systems, where computational or AI post-processing of raw data is an integrated part. Further, experience in co-optimizing optics, electronics and computational algorithms and familiarity with the latest advancements in computational imaging and camera and optical sensor algorithms is anticipated.

The work involves suggesting and developing computational/AI algorithms; calibrating and training the algorithms based on experimental data; specifying the needed data; developing new concepts and co-optimize systems. There will be a close collaboration with the element and module design teams as well as experimental teams for building test and demonstrator systems and for performance characterization and generation of input data for the models.

We expect you to have a keen eye for innovation and the drive for defining the future of camera and optical sensing technologies. At NIL Technology, you’ll be diving into the world of wafer-level optics, playing a pivotal role in demonstrating performance of the system architectures for our cutting-edge meta optical elements (MOE), and camera and projection modules.

You will be part of a company that offers a fast-moving and busy work environment, where all opinions are valued together. We have a strong team spirit and a profound “we win, and we lose together” attitude which we value and culture. Read more at www.nilt.com/join-us.
