The world still has coverage blind spots. You could help eliminate them at Skylo.

Skylo has pioneered a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity. We connect smartphones and IoT devices directly to satellites. No special hardware, no entirely new networks. Just billions of existing devices, suddenly reachable anywhere on Earth. We're not building toward this future. We're already in it.

Our direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, covering more than 72 million square kilometers, in partnership with leading satellite operators, mobile network operators, Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs worldwide. And we're just getting started.

At the heart of it all is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN: a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that seamlessly bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. It's the infrastructure that makes true anywhere, anytime connectivity possible.

When you join Skylo, you'll work at the intersection of three markets reshaping how the world stays connected: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.

This is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works

This role is located in Bangalore, India where we are onsite at least 3 days a week in the office.

Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer - Telecom Billing to design, implement, and optimize our billing systems that support telecom services. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining platforms that manage mediation, rating, charging, invoicing, and revenue assurance. This role requires both strong software engineering skills and deep domain knowledge of telecom billing and OSS/BSS systems.

Key Responsibilities

Wholesale & Roaming Billing (Core Focus)

  • Design and maintain wholesale billing workflows covering inter-carrier settlements, MNO/MVNO partner billing, and NTN roaming agreements.

  • Own end-to-end roaming billing pipelines: CDR/TAP3 file generation, TADIG-compliant record exchange, GSMA RAP dispute management, and Near Real-Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE/TD.32) for fraud detection and near-real-time usage visibility.

  • Operate and optimise Data Clearing House (DCH) processes – including TAP3/RAP file validation, routing, NRTRDE file handling, and bilateral/multilateral clearing with partner operators.

  • Manage Financial Clearing House (FCH) operations – coordinating financial settlement cycles, IOT (Inter-Operator Tariff) calculations, and reconciliation with finance teams.

  • Apply Billing and Charging Evolution (BCE) principles and GSMA BCE working group standards to modernise inter-operator billing processes and align with evolving NTN/satellite roaming frameworks.

  • Produce and validate wholesale invoices: generate accurate invoices for roaming partners and MVNOs, manage dispute resolution workflows, and ensure timely settlement.

  • Implement controls for roaming settlement accuracy, interconnect billing, and prevention of wholesale revenue leakage.

Billing & Charging Systems

  • Design, develop, and maintain billing solutions for prepaid, postpaid, and hybrid telecom products across consumer, automotive, and IoT verticals.

  • Implement and optimise rating and charging logic for voice, SMS, data, and value-added services – including satellite-specific usage types.

  • Work with mediation systems to ensure accurate collection and processing of Call Detail Records (CDRs) and Event Detail Records (EDRs).

  • Support real-time charging systems (OCS/CCS) and integrations with CRM and provisioning systems.

Invoicing & Revenue Assurance

  • Manage the full invoicing lifecycle: invoice generation, delivery, dispute handling, and credit/debit note processing for both retail and wholesale customers.

  • Ensure billing accuracy, reconciliation, and prevention of revenue leakage across retail and wholesale streams.

  • Collaborate with finance and audit teams to meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., TRAI, FCC, GDPR).

  • Implement controls for taxation, settlement, and interconnect billing.

System Integration & Performance

  • Integrate billing platforms with ERP, CRM, partner settlement systems, and payment gateways.

  • Optimise performance for large-scale, high-volume transaction environments typical of NTN/satellite IoT deployments.

  • Build APIs and services to support product launches, customer self-service portals, and partner billing portals.

  • Implement monitoring and automation for billing workflows and financial reporting.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with product and business teams to support new pricing models, bundles, promotions, and wholesale partner agreements.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in telecom billing engineering.

  • Participate in architectural discussions and roadmap planning for billing modernisation.

What We Look For

  • 5–8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in telecom billing systems.

  • Hands-on experience with OSS/BSS stacks (Amdocs, CSG, NetCracker, Ericsson BSCS, Oracle BRM, or equivalent).

  • Strong understanding of CDR/EDR processing, mediation, rating, and charging systems.

  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL) and data modeling for billing.

  • Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.

  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards relevant to telecom billing.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with cloud-native telecom billing solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Solid programming skills in Java, C++, Go, or Python for backend systems.

  • Knowledge of 5G core network charging (CHF, PCF).

  • Exposure to usage-based billing at scale for IoT/M2M services.

  • Certifications in telecom OSS/BSS or cloud billing.
