Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Functional Test Platform Principal Engineer to help us in our mission by:

• designing and integrating our system test platforms (Software In the Loop, Hardware in the Loop...) both on the hardware and software aspects

• defining system test procedure to be run on those platforms, running the procedure and exploiting the test results to prove compliance to the requirements

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Functional Test Platform Principal Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

• Lead the design, development, and testing of the Functional Test Platform as well as the execution and exploitation of the system tests

• Build and scale the team in charge of these activities

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members

• Coordinate the overall activities related to Functional Test Platform and Test Execution within the team.

• Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of the Functional Test Platform and Test Execution

You and your team will be in charge of the following activities:

• Define and refine the architecture of our HIL platforms to ensure optimal performance and scalability both on the hardware (front-end selection to interface with the Product under Test) and software aspects (Test Supervisor, Real-Time Simulation Framework, Database,..)

• Develop and integrate the numerical model in the Real-Time simulator used to close the loop on the HIL platform

• Lead discussions with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with overall project objectives, especially with the subsystem and system qualification logic

• Evaluate and select the appropriate hardware and software for the platforms

• Perform make or buy tradeoffs; collaborate with external partners or vendors to request, evaluate and integrate hardware or software

• Define and apply the process to create test procedure based on the test plan provided by the other teams

• Execute the test procedure on the Functional Test Platform and exploit these test results, using as much as possible automation to streamline the process

• Provide support for troubleshooting and resolving integration issues.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the Functional Test Platform with the other subsystems.

What we would love to see from you

In the role of Functional Test Platform Principal l Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

• Extensive experience of verification and validation of avionics and embedded software

• Proven experience in designing and operating HIL platforms and running system tests on these platforms

• Strong leadership and management skills to lead a development team and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

• Ability to promote and develop the skills and capabilities of team members and support their development.
