HIL and EGSE Software Engineer

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We are seeking a skilled HIL and EGSE Software Engineer to enhance our mission by designing, developing, and integrating our Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) platforms, focusing on software development and integration.
Key Responsibilities
As a HIL and EGSE Software Engineer, your evolving role will include:
• Designing, developing, and testing HIL and EGSE platforms software
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure alignment with project objectives
• Driving continuous improvement to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of HIL and EGSE platforms
Your responsibilities will encompass:
• Defining and refining the architecture of HIL and EGSE platforms to ensure optimal performance and scalability, focusing on software aspects such as Test Supervisors, Real-Time Simulation Frameworks, Databases and interfaces with the Front-Ends.
• Evaluating and selecting appropriate software tools and frameworks for the platforms
• Performing make-or-buy analyses; collaborating with external partners or vendors to request, evaluate, and integrate software solutions
• Developing software tools and scripts to interface the various components of the HIL and EGSE (Test Supervisor, Real-Time Simulator, Front-Ends,...) and to automatize platform set-up, test runs and test exploitations
• Providing support for troubleshooting and resolving integration issues.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of HIL and EGSE platforms with other subsystems.
What we would love to see from you
The ideal candidate will have:
• Proven experience in designing and operating HIL and EGSE platforms
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and MATLAB
• Familiarity with communication protocols and interfaces used in aerospace systems.
• Knowledge of automation tools and scripting for test execution and data analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
