Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

In the frame of the commercialization of Nyx and the expansion of our products and services, we are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Future Systems Senior Project Manager to help us execute and win our future projects (Phases 0/A, Lunar spacecraft, In-orbit service vehicles).

You will be successful in this role if you can help us with:

  • After contract signature: Manage the projects, including interfacing with the customers and partners and coordinating the internal stakeholders to ensure the on-time, on-cost and on-quality delivery of the projects.

  • During the proposal phase: Collaborate with the commercial team to contribute to the development of compelling proposals.

  • For simple proposals and projects, you will be expected to perform yourself some engineering work, being able to produce high level technical content in order to feed the projects early phases.

  • For more complex proposals and projects, you will have the support of a system engineer who will coordinate all the technical aspects and technically manage the field engineers involved.

You will be part of the Future Systems team and will work in close collaboration with the Engineering and Commercial teams.

Key responsibilities:

Your role will be continuously evolving, but day-to-day your duties will include:

  • Project Management:

    • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining scope, schedule, and resource requirements.

    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.

    • Proactively address challenges to maintain project momentum.

    • Identify potential risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Technical Leadership:

    • Perform engineering tasks for simpler projects to maintain focus and alignment with technical teams.

    • Collaborate with technical teams to address and resolve complex technical challenges.

  • Customer Interface:

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients.

    • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, and ensuring satisfaction.

  • Partners Interface:

    • Act as point of contact for partners involved in the projects, fostering strong collaboration.

    • Monitor partners activities and approve deliverables.

  • Team Coordination:

    • Coordinate cross-functional technical teams to optimize collaboration and efficiency.

    • Foster a positive team culture and facilitate effective communication.

  • Budget and Resource Management:

    • Monitor project budgets and allocate resources effectively.

    • Optimize resource utilization to achieve project goals.

  • Proposals Support:

    • Analyze the call documentation, defining the best technical solution and industrial organization.

    • Elaborate the technical and programmatic parts, making sure they are aligned with the team and company capabilities.

What we would love to see from you:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.

  • Proven work experience of more than 5 years in the aerospace industry (both project management and technical responsibilities).

  • Strong technical background with hands-on engineering experience.

  • Experience in early phases at the vehicle/spacecraft level and technology level, with a good system mindset.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
