Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We are looking for a Deputy Lead Procurement to join our team and play a critical role in driving the procurement strategy for our groundbreaking spacecraft development. In this position, you will support the Procurement Lead in managing supplier relationships, streamlining procurement processes, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. You’ll have a direct impact on our mission by ensuring we build spacecraft with the best quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Management:

• Identify, evaluate, and develop supplier relationships to meet project requirements.

• Negotiate contracts to achieve the best value in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.

• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues proactively.

Procurement Operations:

• Support end-to-end procurement activities, from RFQs to contract management.

• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into procurement actions.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Strategic Support:

• Assist the Procurement Lead in defining and implementing the procurement strategy.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.

• Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies within the supply chain.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, and finance, to ensure seamless procurement processes.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior procurement team members.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

• 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in aerospace, manufacturing, or a high-tech environment.

• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software is a plus.

Skills:

• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and contracts effectively.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to balance cost, quality, and timelines.

• Familiarity with technical drawings and specifications is advantageous.
