Engineering at TRACTIAN


The Engineering team at TRACTIAN is responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure that powers our products: from advanced industrial monitoring systems to our CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and complex integrations with enterprise systems. We work with massive volumes of IoT data, real-time streams, and mission-critical services that demand performance, resilience, and reliability. Backend and Integrations teams play a vital role in ensuring our platform seamlessly connects with the external ecosystem of ERPs, CRMs, and other mission-critical enterprise tools, while also driving scalability and robustness across Tractian’s backend architecture.

What you'll do


As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional group of engineers focused on backend services and enterprise integrations. You’ll partner closely with the Product team and engineering managers to ensure smooth delivery of engineering projects, and collaborate with directors and technical leads to shape the strategic vision of backend systems and integrations at Tractian. This role blends technical depth with people management, requiring you to support engineers in their growth while ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor backend software engineers, fostering technical excellence, ownership, and career growth.

  • Partner with Product and Commercial teams to scope, plan, and prioritize backend and integration initiatives.

  • Drive architectural decisions to ensure scalable, resilient backend systems and reliable integrations with enterprise software (SAP, TOTVS, Oracle, etc.).

  • Ensure the team’s deliverables align with Tractian’s broader engineering strategy and contribute to business impact.

  • Represent the team in cross-department initiatives, managing stakeholder communication and setting expectations.

  • Optimize resource allocation, define priorities, and oversee project timelines to maximize efficiency and results.

  • Promote a culture of high-quality engineering through code reviews, observability practices, and process improvements.

  • Collaborate with other engineering leaders to set standards for backend development, integration patterns, and security practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager or in a technical leadership role.

  • Strong technical background in backend development, with expertise in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or Node.js).

  • Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases (especially PostgreSQL and MongoDB).

  • Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.

  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and security best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive under strict deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills for managing stakeholders and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Experience in high-SLA environments with mission-critical systems.

  • Advanced/Fluent proficiency in English.

Bonus points

  • Experience with ERP software integrations (SAP, TOTVS, Oracle) or other enterprise systems.

  • Background in event streaming and data pipelines (Kafka, Airflow, Dagster, or Temporal).

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Previous experience in startups or high-growth environments.

  • Advanced/Fluent proficiency in Spanish.
