This role is based at the Company’s headquarters in Redwood Shores, CA and requires you to be onsite 3x/week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). We will only consider candidates already based in the Bay Area.
Who You Are:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting the Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting and reporting by providing process knowledge, technical expertise, business collaboration, and reporting leadership, with a strong desire to improve processes and control in the close process as well as external reporting. The candidate must be a leader, have experience in managing processes, be detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills. The ideal person will understand how to educate finance and non-finance personnel on financial policies, reporting requirements, and business trends and opportunities.
What You'll Do:
• Prepare and/or review month-end and close activity in stock based compensation; consolidations, income tax accounting and prepare and review flux analyses as needed
• Assist in managing the monthly and quarterly close process, including financial statement reviews of our locations, to ensure integrity of the consolidated financial statements
• Assist in managing all day-to-day general accounting matters, accounts payable, and the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, analyses, and schedules
• Maintain and update financial accounting policies for areas impacting financial reporting
• Participate in implementation of new initiatives including Workiva implementation for external reporting, ensuring accounting processes and controls are accurate, effective, and efficient
• Prepare and or validate the financial data used in external reporting including Cashflow statements and footnotes for Form 10K, 10Q and 8K
• Initiate and streamline existing processes for efficiency and to sustain future growth of the company
• Interface with external auditors in the planning and execution of annual audits, including PBC deliverables, ongoing coordination of audit activities, and financial statement preparation and reviews
• Develop, document, and maintain a strong internal control environment; provide leadership in establishing a SOX-compliant control structure
What You Bring To Zūm:
• At least 8 years of hands-on working experience showing consistent progression including at least 2 years as a Manager
• A mix of venture-backed and medium to large publicly listed cleantech, software, or SaaS companies, and Big 4 experience is highly desired
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules, especially around lease accounting, and equity-related matters including stock-based compensation
• Strong NetSuite ERP system or major ERP (SAP or Oracle) knowledge preferred
• WDesk (Workiva) knowledge required
• Critical thinker with the ability to understand issues, proactively resolve problems, and identify process improvements and efficiencies
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities
• BA/BS degree in Accounting
• CPA certification or equivalent is required
The targeted base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section below. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.
